The twin daughter of the famous dance instructors and entrepreneur couple, Arthur Murray and Jane Murray, was born into a life of glamour and culture, and marrying the also famous Dr. Henry Heimlich developer of the Heimlich maneuver, Jane Murray Heimlich has been surrounded by extraordinary people which contributed in her being as extraordinary as well.
Dancing has always been a mainstay in the lives of those that has been touched by beat, rhythm and music, since time immemorial, dancing is an integral part of any culture that has ever existed. As a daughter of the founder of the chain of dance schools, Jane Murray Heimlich was born as the heir of the Arthur Murray dance legacy and had lived up to her father’s name by upholding his vision of teaching those who wish to know how to dance. Jane Murray Heimlich has a twin sister, Phyllis Murray. Arthur Murray met their mother at a radio station in New Jersey, Kathryn Kohnfelder, She was in the audience while he was broadcasting a dance lesson. Who became his dance partner and married her on April 24, 1925.
Jane Murray Heimlich married Dr. Henry Heimlich on June 4, 1951, the famous doctor who developed the best solution for choking, the abdominal thrusts also known as the “Heimlich Maneuver” in honor of its developer and has since saved the lives of a lot people. Jane Murray Heimlich and Dr. Henry Heimlich have four children: Phil Heimlich, a former Cincinnati elected official turned conservative Christian radio talk-show host Peter Heimlich, whose website documents what he calls his father’s “wide-ranging, unseen 50-year history of fraud”; Janet Heimlich, a freelance reporter; and Elisabeth Heimlich.
Jane Murray Heimlich authored the book Homeopathy at Home,( J.P. Tarcher, Inc., 1980) was one of the first to give the public a helpful guide to understanding how to use homeopathic remedies. The book having been published in a lot of countries such Israel, Netherlands, India and Great Britain. Jane Murray Heimlich later two more books, What Your DoctorWon’t Tell You: the Complete Guide to the Latest in Alternative Medicine (HarperCollins, 1990) provides readers with valuable information about how to cure many health problems without resorting to surgery or pharmaceuticals.
